December 6, 2008 Meeting

What a wonderful and inspirational meeting we had yesterday, December, 6. Both of our speakers were great and I think we were all motivated by what they shared with us. I'm so glad we chose Pride for Parents to be our organization to support for the Holidays. I think we all left feeling like we had been part of supporting families with a hand-up, instead of a hand-out. When I hear more from Marvin I will forward it to everybody. I want to learn how we can work with this group during the year with special events and not just at Christmas. I also look forward to the opening of the Patriot Museum and seeing where we can fit in with some volunteer work there throughout the next year. I thought Pat's talk was "right-on" with what our Chapter believes in and in line with what we would like to be part of. I'm sure Pat will keep us posted. Many of you shared with me after the meeting that you thought it was the best meeting we've had. It was refreshing to expand our focus for a while on something beside politics. We know our team lost, as Bill has said many mornings, and we will be looking to the future and how we regroup, but this was a nice respite from all of that.

As we wind down the year, I want to say a special thanks and blessing to Rufus and Linda for their hospitality at the Pub. We are truly fortunate to have them willing to share their "Pub Home" with us each month. They put so much time and thought into our breakfast menu and setting up the tables, etc. for us. We come waltzing in, throw $5.00 in a pot, and enjoy, but a lot of work goes into it behind the scenes. Thank you so very much!!!!!

In January we will go back to our regular meeting date of the second Saturday of each month. Our January meeting will be January 9, 2009 at 9:00. We had several new people with us yesterday and I hope you all will be a regular part of our group. It was great meeting you and having you join us.

Merry Christmas to everybody and let's pray for a prosperous and safe 2009. You know the saying .... God's in His Heaven, All's right with the world! We have to believe that. See you in January.
