Town Hall Meeting

A few SMIA ladies turned out for Hank Johnson's town hall meeting. I can't speak for everyone, but I left disappointed because we were rounded up into a gymnasium with a really bad echo and no opportunity to speak. It was clear that the decks were stacked against us by the tone and topics of the speakers who began the event. What was encouraging was that 2000 people showed up in 90 degree heat to be a part of the process. It was hard to tell the split for and against, but everyone was civil. I expected more from Rep. Johnson in the way of planning. He had an auditorium that held 500 people full before the remaining folks like us were herded into the gym. It was intimidating with 20 police officers and several paddy wagons in plain sight for unruly people. Rep. Johnson was clear on this position, he wants to take away your private insurance plan. The private insurance companies are the enemies and they make (shocker) profits and that is evil. The government is the only way to make it "fair" for everyone. If you are fortunate enough to have this brilliant man speaking for you in Congress, I encourage you to let him know how you feel. Doubtful it will change his mind, but he needs to know he's on shaky ground and there will opponents in 2010. As for me, I will soon be in Tom Price's district. I had to move OTP to get some representation! If you are in someone else's district, I encourage you to be a part of the process and go to a town hall. The idiocy and the idol worship will astound you.

Thanks for the first person report! Sounds like a big turn out and not a good time.

Welcome to GA's Sixth! You know your Congressman has gravitas when he is mentioned on the Fox All Stars! (well, Cyn McKinney was mentioned - but never in a positive way!)

Hank Johnson's Townhall = Kabuki with a southern accent.
